Pure Imagination
Original Oil Painting on stretched canvas.
122 x 92 x 3.5cm.
White floating frame roughly 125 x 95 cm
I woke up dreaming about this painting, I had a clear vision. I stretched out the trees and path.
I took my time and repainted some of the trees as I wasn't happy with them, it's hard when you don't have an image to reference from. This painting took hours to paint, I stopped counting after 200 hours, and I hadn't started work on the pile of leaves which took over a week, working all hours until I started making mistakes through tiredness.
I listen to music whilst painting, I find it helps to relax, I also hear songs in colour not sure if that's actually a good thing when you are painting a green tree and can hear a yellow song.
I decided to paint water rather than a path, basically I was using the colour on another painting and liked it so much, I thought I'd add it in this painting.
The Title 'Pure Imagination' came when i was painting the leaves, it reminded me of Chocolate, so Charlie and the chocolate factory jumped into my head.
It took me 7 months to complete this painting, and I loved every minute of it.
